Your second set of constructives is due tomorrow at the end of the period.

Keep in mind, especially for the negative side, this is mostly about anticipating what the other team is going to present in the first constructive. You might not use everything you prepare, or you might use it in a different way. However, the most detailed part of the second constructive is the plan and/or the counterplan. Be as specific as possible.

Lay out all of the steps of your plan with explanations.

You want to express how the plan will remedy harms, why the plan is desirable, and how it is feasible.

Getting ready for Debates

Today, you will get your first constructives back. Please review them for revision. They have not been letter graded at this point. You have time to revise before you submit a final copy of the debates.

Be aware that your second constructives are due Wednesday. You should be focusing on your plans/counterplans.

Due dates

By the end of the class tomorrow, your team needs to have a completed 1ac outline and a completed 1nc outline that must include pathos, logos, and ethos.

The Bill of Rights retake is tomorrow.

Preparing for your debate

Go to MY COMPUTER.

Go to the ASSIGNMENT DRIVE and open the MRS. BAIONE-DODA folder.

Open the DEBATE folder.

Then, open the GRADING file.

Debates are about persuasion and evidence

Yes. You need A LOT of evidence in a debate. You also need to be persuasive. Don't forget about the methods of persuasion we discussed at the beginning of the course.

DO NOW: On YOUR BLOG, define pathos, ethos, logos, and appeal to authority.

When you have completed the DO NOW, continue with your research and your outlines.

More Research

Today, you should be doing more research. All of your research should be tagged by stock issue. By the end of the period, you should have a total of 10 note cards (including your work from yesterday).

You should spend the period research with your teammates for your debate. By the end of the period, you should have at least two sources and two notes cards per team member. Be sure to share you list on www.noodletools.com.
